What do you like best about Express Scribe?

You van customize for your easy the rewind play pause and forward button. It also increases the volume of recording to 200x.

What do you dislike about Express Scribe?

Not dislike in a sense but it must have some settings that we can forward and rewing audio whatever time lapse we want. Paddle is difficult to carry around.

Increases audio more than its normal.

Lack of customer support as there is no phone number for a quick response.

It is easier to take meeting notes using this product.

What do you like best about Express Scribe?

Express Scribe is the most cutting edge, industry-standard transcription based audio player available. It's support for a myriad of audio formats is second to none. In addition to it's file support, it has amazing hardware support for the various transcription foot pedals out there.

What do you dislike about Express Scribe?

My biggest gripe about Express Scribe is that once you purchase the professional version, if your version goes out of date, there doesn't seem to be a place to find older versions on the web to be able to re-install the version you have paid for, hence forcing another purchase if you need to restore your computer.

Recommendations to others considering Express Scribe:

Definitely work with the free version before committing to purchasing. You might find that a specific device (pedal) may not be compatible, but these are very far and few between. Additionally, if you are coming from the Career Step transcription training program, be sure to disable the Pedal Helper application, as it interferes with Express Scribe's pedal controls.

What problems is Express Scribe solving and how is that benefiting you?

Express Scribe allows our organization (Transcription Company) to be able to effectively transcribe virtually every possible file format our customers throw at us. The days of only getting WAV or MP3 files from out clients have long been over, and Express Scribe gracefully allows us to handle whatever comes our way, which can be dozens of different file/video types.

What do you like best about Express Scribe?

I like best that it's a one-time fee rather than a subscription; what you see is what you get. The software also comes with a decent trial period to really let you get a feel for it prior to purchasing, which is great. I've used that for aspiring transcriptionists to make sure they have a knack for typing prior to hiring, and it's made a big difference. It's a fairly intuitive software that's easy to learn and use, yet it has the capability to be customized for optimization. It works well with a foot pedal and gives control over playback speed. There are several help resources online available to help if you have questions or issues. Another upside is that you can also set up hotkeys and customize controls to enable you to be more productive while typing, resulting in faster turnaround times.

What do you dislike about Express Scribe?

It's not a huge downside, but it would be nice if there were simple audio enhancing features built into Express Scribe. Currently, if I have a poor quality audio file, I have to manipulate it in a different software prior to loading it into Express Scribe. This aspect is least helpful because I have to spend time going to an outside application and editing the audio. Having very simple enhancing options would save me a few steps and would allow my transcriptionists to be a bit more self-reliant with those types of issues, as currently I'm the only person who can enhance audio files. I would also like to see both the elapsed and remaining times, not just one or the other; this would be an easy update that would allow me to see exactly where I am in the file and set goals for myself around productivity.

Recommendations to others considering Express Scribe:

My advice is to utilize the free trial! It's a great way to get your feet wet and make sure the software will meet your needs prior to purchasing. The price is very reasonable for what you get, with many customization options. Overall, I'm satisfied with Express Scribe and will continue to use it in the future.

What problems is Express Scribe solving and how is that benefiting you?

We are solving the problem of inaccurate machine transcription. Machine transcription often has errors and does not pick up things that might be happening in the background, such as someone whispering answers or picking up on distractors. We use humans for transcribing rather than software because we do strict verbatim transcribing. The benefit of using this software is that we get a highly accurate transcript and can make accurate hiring/development recommendations for our clients based on these scripts and the coding that follows.

- It has so many features geared to make the transcription process faster and easier

- It integrates and works well with other applications

What do you dislike about Express Scribe?

It is quite pricey but it is worth the money you pay for it
